The Delhi government has announced the opening of online applications for admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, for the term commencing in July 2026. Known as one of India’s most prestigious military schools, RIMC nurtures young boys and girls to prepare them for future leadership roles in the Indian Armed Forces.

About Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC)

Founded in 1922 as the Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College, RIMC is located in the scenic Doon Valley, Dehradun. Spread across 54 hectares (139 acres), the institution is known for its discipline, academic excellence, and focus on military training. With an enrollment of around 250 cadets and a 1:14 teacher-student ratio, RIMC provides holistic development combining academics, physical training, and leadership skills.

Every year, only 50 students are selected through a rigorous national-level RIMC Entrance Exam, followed by a medical fitness test. Successful candidates are admitted into Class 8 and follow a CBSE 10+2 pattern over five years. The college offers Science with Informatics Practices at the +2 level, while also preparing cadets for the UPSC NDA exam with Social Science subjects.


Eligibility Criteria for RIMC Admissions 2026

As per the Delhi Directorate of Education circular, the eligibility criteria are:

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 11½ years old but not older than 13 years as on July 1, 2026.

    • Students born between July 2, 2013, and January 1, 2015 are eligible.

  • Gender: Applications are open to both boys and girls.

  • Education Qualification: Applicants must be studying in Class 7 or have completed it from a recognised school at the time of admission.


Application Process

  • Application Form:

    • Can be obtained by sending a demand draft of 600/- (555 for SC/ST candidates with valid caste certificate).

    • Forms are also available online through the official link provided in the notification.

  • Submission Deadline: Completed forms, along with required documents, must be submitted to the Examination Cell of the Directorate of Education by October 15, 2025.

  • Important Note: Only the official RIMC forms bearing the hologram will be accepted. Photocopied or locally printed forms will be rejected.

Entrance Exam and Selection Process

  • Exam Date: The RIMC Entrance Exam will be held in Delhi on December 7, 2025.

  • Selection Process:

    • Candidates must qualify the written entrance exam.

    • Those shortlisted will undergo a medical fitness test before final admission.
