  Established in 1958, Rangaraya Medical College (RMC), Kakinada began as a private institution founded by Dr. M. V. Krishna Rao and Col. Dr. D. S. Raju, with strong community support. The college was formally inaugurated on November 17, 1958. In 1977, the Government of Andhra Pradesh took over the college, and by 1981, it became a full-fledged government medical institution.
