Overview of NIT Trichy:

The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy), formerly known as Regional Engineering College (REC) Trichy, was established in 1964 through a collaboration between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu. It was part of the first wave of RECs aimed at producing high-quality engineering professionals to meet India’s industrial and technological needs during the post-independence era.

In 2003, the institute was granted Deemed University status and renamed NIT Trichy, becoming one of the 30 premier National Institutes of Technology governed by the NIT Council under the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), Government of India. It has since emerged as a center of academic excellence in technical education and research.
