Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad—also known as NIT Allahabad—is one of the earliest and most esteemed engineering institutions in India. Established in 1961 as Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College (MNREC), and later upgraded to NIT status in 2002, it gained recognition as an Institute of National Importance under the 2007 NIT Act. Located in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), the 222-acre urban campus is steeped in academic legacy, being the first in the country to launch an undergraduate program in Computer Science & Engineering in 1976. From its initial offerings of Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering, the institute has grown to host programs across CSE, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Biotechnology, Production, Chemical, IT, and several specialized M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Sc, and Ph.D. courses.

From an engineering perspective, MNNIT combines time-tested academic rigor with modern infrastructure and research thrusts, backed by Ph.D.-qualified faculty and a proactive Training & Placement Cell. This results in pioneering contributions in fields like AI, VLSI, structural and environmental engineering. In the 2024–25 placement cycle, a remarkable 531+ companies visited, offering 1,398 positions, with the highest package reaching 71.14 LPA and an average of 16.06 LPA (median 12 LPA for B.Tech). The institute recorded a 76.5–90% placement rate across UG and PG programs. Renowned recruiters such  as Amazon, Microsoft, Samsung, TATA Power, IBM, EY, and Accenture regularly visit the campus.

In essence, MNNIT Allahabad blends a rich historical foundation, comprehensive engineering programs, modern research ecosystem, and top-tier industry engagement, making it a highly sought-after technical university that balances legacy with innovation for future engineers.
