The Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa), established in 2016, is one of the newest entrants to the prestigious IIT system in India. It was founded under the mentorship of IIT Bombay, which supported the development of its academic framework and faculty base in the initial years. Currently, IIT Goa operates from a transit campus within Goa Engineering College (GEC), Farmagudi, while its permanent campus is under construction at Sattari, North Goa, spread across 300 acres. M.Tech and Ph.D. programs have comparatively lower tuition fees. Placements at IIT Goa have been exceptional, especially for a young institute, with the 2024 B.Tech placement rate reaching 90.7% and an average CTC of 15.92 LPA, while the highest package touched 60 LPA. Branch-wise, Mathematics & Computing and Electrical Engineering have seen placement rates above 95%, with CSE also averaging above 16 LPA. Top recruiters include global tech firms and Indian startups that actively seek talent from IIT Goa due to its rigorous academic environment and skilled student pool. In terms of recognition, IIT Goa is approved by AICTE, has been granted NAAC A++ accreditation, and though not yet ranked independently by NIRF due to its newness, it is widely regarded for its academic quality and modern research orientation. This may be due to the institute's recent establishment and the specific eligibility criteria set by NIRF, such as the requirement for institutions to have graduated a minimum of three batches and meet certain faculty-student ratios.
