Overview of Financial Assistance

IIT Delhi offers a broad range of financial aid options, including:

  • Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships

  • Tuition Fee Waivers

  • Institute Free Studentship

  • Donor-Funded Scholarships

  • Category-Specific Exemptions

These are available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, with scholarship amounts ranging from 25,000 to 1 lakh (INR) per year
 

Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships

  • Eligibility: UG students (BTech, MA, MSc, MPP) with annual family income ≤ 8 lakh (INR)

  • Coverage: 4,000 (INR) per month + full tuition fee waiver

  • Renewal: Maintain a minimum SGPA/CGPA of 6.0 and submit annual income proof

  • Availability: ~25% of UG students benefit from this scheme


Institute Free Studentship
For those eligible for MCM but outside the 25% cap:

  • Coverage: Tuition fee waivers for an additional 10% of students

  • Basis: Means criteria only


Fee Exemption for SC, ST, and PwD Students

All SC/ST/PwD students are exempt from tuition fees:

  • Hostel Rent Waiver: For students with income ≤ 8 lakh (INR)

  • Other Benefits:

    • Free messing (basic meals)

    • 1,000 (INR) monthly pocket allowance
