Institution Overview & History
AIIMS Guwahati is a centrally funded Institute of National Importance established in 2017 under the PMSSY scheme. The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 26, 2017, and the institute was inaugurated on April 14, 2023. Academic activities began in January 2021 with the first MBBS cohort of 50 students, initially hosted at GMCH’s temporary campus, before moving to its permanent campus by March 2022
Situated on a sprawling 189-acre site in Changsari, Guwahati, AIIMS Guwahati is equipped with a 750-bed multispecialty hospital featuring over 25 departments including AYUSH services
Courses Offered & Seat Intake
MBBS (Undergraduate): 100–125 seats annually, 5.5-year program including internship
B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing available, with approximately 60–75 seats
