New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched the first phase of its free psycho-social counselling services for students preparing for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations, which are scheduled to begin on February 17, 2026.
Support from January to June
The counselling initiative, which commenced on January 6 and will continue until June 1, 2026, aims to help students manage exam-related stress, anxiety and emotional challenges during the crucial board exam period.
24×7 Helpline Launched
CBSE has activated a 24×7 toll-free helpline (1800-11-8004) accessible in both Hindi and English through an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Students can receive guidance on stress management techniques, exam preparation tips and answers to frequently asked questions any time of the day.
Tele-Counselling by Trained Professionals
In addition to the helpline, the board has made available tele-counselling services from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays. A panel of 73 trained professionals — including principals, counsellors, special educators and psychologists — has been mobilised to provide emotional and mental health support. Some counsellors are based abroad in countries such as Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman and the UAE.
Digital Resources for Students
CBSE has also provided a range of online resources on its official website covering stress management, study strategies and emotional well-being to further assist students and parents during the board exam preparation period.
Board Exams on the Horizon
With board examinations for Classes X and XII approaching, the move underlines CBSE’s focus on students’ holistic well-being alongside academic preparation, encouraging examinees to harness both mental clarity and confidence as they gear up for the tests.
