News Update: MoE Reconstitutes JEE Apex Board (JAB) for 2026–2027 Exams
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has issued an official notification reconstituting the JEE Apex Board (JAB) to oversee the administration of both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for the 2026–2027 exam cycles. This move ensures continuity and fresh governance for the country’s premier engineering entrance exams.
Leadership & Composition
Chairperson: Prof. S.K. Jain, former Vice-Chancellor of BHU, has been appointed as the Honorary Chairperson of the reconstituted JAB
Members include: Directors from prominent institutions like IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, NIT Rourkela, IIEST Shibpur, IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Una, and IIITDM Kanchipuram; representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh; a nominee from VIT; plus key officials from CBSE, NIC, C- DAC, the Ministry of Education, and the DG of NTA as Member Secretary.
Roles & Responsibilities
Policy & Coordination: JAB will determine policies, rules, and regulations for JEE Main and liaise with the JEE Advanced organizing institution
Secretariat: The National Testing gency (NTA) will serve as the permanent secretariat, handling administration, logistics, and coordination, with technical support from NIC and C-DAC
Support Mechanism: A JEE Interface Group—comprising members from NTA, IITs, and ISI—will assist the JAB in its functions
JEE Advanced Oversight: JAB-IIT (the IIT system arrangement) will continue overseeing JEE Advanced, while transparency protocols for both exams remain intact
