CBSE Relief: Class 12 Answer Sheet Application Deadline Extended to May 23 Amid Massive Portal Meltdown
In a major relief for thousands of stressed applicants, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially extended the deadline for Class 12 students to apply for scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. Initially scheduled to close on May 22, the deadline has now been pushed to May 23, 2026, following widespread technical failures that paralyzed the board's online portal.
The decision comes after students and parents from across India and abroad flooded social media with complaints about a broken user interface, payment loop errors, and site maintenance blackouts.
Why CBSE Extended the Timeline
The post-result verification window has faced immense pressure due to an unprecedented surge in applications this year. Acknowledgeing the breakdown, CBSE released an official statement confirming the 24-hour extension:
"Due to a technical problem encountered on the CBSE website for Post-Verification Facilities, and to ensure sufficient time for students, the last date for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer books has been extended to May 23, 2026."
The board added that all other pre-scheduled conditions and timelines for the subsequent verification steps remain unchanged.
Price Drop Triggers Historic Traffic Surge
A key reason behind the unprecedented digital traffic crash is CBSE’s massive fee reduction this year. In a bid to make the process more student-friendly, the board drastically slashed post-result service charges:
Scanned Answer Copies: Dropped from INR 700 to just INR 100 per subject.
Marks Verification: Reduced to INR 100.
Re-evaluation Fee: Dropped from INR 100 to INR 25 per question (with a full refund policy if the score increases).
While the board claimed the platform managed over 1.27 lakh successful registrations within its first few hours, the ground reality for thousands of others was a frustrating cycle of "Site Under Maintenance" screens, failed OTP deliveries, and double-deducted bank payments.
Students are advised to utilize this extra day to securely download their answer scripts. Once retrieved, candidates must carefully analyze their copies alongside the official CBSE marking scheme.
If any grading discrepancies, calculation mistakes, or unchecked responses are found, the portal for formal marks verification and re-evaluation will open from May 26 to May 29, 2026.
