AIIMS Bhubaneswar Soars to 12th Rank in India Today-MDRA Survey 2025, Among Top 2 Emerging Medical Colleges
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has achieved a significant academic milestone by securing the 12th position in the prestigious India Today–MDRA Best Medical Colleges Survey 2025, firmly establishing itself among India’s leading medical institutions. More notably, the institute was ranked 2nd among the Top 10 Emerging Medical Colleges in the country, marking a commendable rise in national prominence.
This accomplishment reflects a dramatic leap from its 25th position in 2021, underscoring the institute's rapid advancement and commitment to excellence in medical education and healthcare services. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has demonstrated robust performance in core evaluation areas such as academic rigor, state-of-the-art infrastructure, leadership cultivation, and student placement support, all of which contributed to its elevated standing.
Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas described the recognition as a testament to the institute’s relentless commitment to academic distinction, healthcare innovation, and ethical medical practice. “This honour mirrors our unwavering pursuit of quality and impact in healthcare delivery and medical training,” he noted, further reinforcing the institute’s mission built on trust, innovation, and integrity.
The rankings were derived through a comprehensive evaluation by India Today in partnership with Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA). Institutions were assessed on five critical dimensions: governance, academic quality, infrastructure readiness, leadership development, and graduate career outcomes.
To honour this achievement, a special felicitation ceremony was held on campus. The event was graced by key administrative and academic figures including Dr. Soubhagya Kumar Jena (Dean, Examinations), Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida (Medical Superintendent), and Dr. Sudipta Kumar Singh (Registrar), alongside renowned faculty members and medical scholars.
This moment also reinforces the enduring vision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose initiative led to the establishment of AIIMS institutions aimed at reducing regional disparities in healthcare access. Today, AIIMS Bhubaneswar not only upholds that transformative vision but also continues to set new standards in medical education, research, and community health.
