Q.

1 R
2 R-{12}
3 (0,∞)
4 None of these

Ans.

(2)

Ans.   R-{12}

Explanation:

Let     u(x)=sinx

           v(x)=|x|

           f(x)=vou(x)=v[u(x)]

                   =v(sinx)

                  =|sinx|

∵  u(x)=sinx is a continuous function and v(x)=|x| is a continuous function.

∴  f(x)=v∘u(x) is also continuous everywhere but v(x) is not differentiable at x=0.

⇒ f(x) is not differentiable where sinx=0

                                x=nπ, n∈Z

Hence, f(x) is continuous everywhere but not differentiable at x=nπ, n∈Z.

∵  At x=12, curve has two tangents at that point, therefore, from the graph it is clear that y=|2x-1| is not differentiable at x=12.

∴  f(x) is differentiable in R-{12}.
