Statement-II : The equivalent internal resistance of two nonideal batteries connected in parallel is smaller than the internal resistance of either ofthe two batteries.

In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below. [2025]

In parallel connections,

$\frac{1}{r_{eq}} = \frac{1}{r_{1}} + \frac{1}{r_{2}} and \frac{E_{eq}}{r_{eq}} = \frac{E_{1}}{r_{1}} + \frac{E_{2}}{r_{2}}$

If $E_{1} = E_{2} and r_{1} = r_{2}$

$∴$ Statement-I is false.

$r_{eq}$ is less than both $r_{1}$ and $r_{2}$

$∴$ Statement -II is true.
