How many molecules of ATP and NADPH are required for every molecule of fixed in the Calvin cycle [2024]
(4)
ATP and NADPH are the products of light reaction which are required during fixation during the Calvin cycle. For every molecule entering the Calvin cycle, 3 molecules of ATP and 2 molecules of NADPH are required. To produce one molecule of glucose, 6 turns of cycles take place i.e., 6 × 3 ATP = 18 ATP and 6 × 2 NADPH = 12 NADPH are required.
