Government Medical College, Maheshwaram Admissions 2025: Courses, Fees, Cutoffs, Placements & Ranking

Government Medical College, Maheshwaram (GMC Maheshwaram) is a nascent government medical institution in Telangana (Ranga Reddy district), conceived to bolster medical education access in and around Hyderabad. Established in 2024, the college is affiliated with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, and is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

The institution currently offers the undergraduate MBBS program with a modest intake, aiming to grow its infrastructure, specialties, hospital facilities, and academic standing over time.

Courses Offered & Intake

  • MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) is the sole course at present.

  • Duration: 5 years 6 months (i.e. 4.5 years of academics + 1 year internship)

  • Annual intake: 50 seats

  • Seat split: As per typical norms, ~15% seats under All India Quota (AIQ) and ~85% under State Quota (Telangana / KNRUHS counselling)

Academic and hospital departments are expected to expand in coming years to support full clinical training.

Fee Structure (Approximate / Reported)

The following figures are based on currently published / reported data. They may be subject to revision as the college matures and as KNRUHS / state regulatory authorities finalize fee schedules.

Component Approximate Amount (INR)
Tuition / Academic Fee (for General / OBC) 10,000
Other academic / non-tuition fees ~24,000 (for OC/BC) ; ~22,000 (for SC/ST)
Total annual fee (tuition + other fees) ~34,000 (OC/BC) ; ~32,000 (SC/ST)
Hostel & allied charges (Not precisely published)

Note: Additional charges (library, laboratory, deposits, etc.) may also apply.

Admission & Eligibility

How to Get In

  • Entry is via NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).

  • Seats are allotted via KNRUHS state counselling for Telangana quota, and MCC counselling for AIQ seats.

  • Candidates must register, fill preferences, and accept allotments as per counselling protocols.

Eligibility

  • 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology, and English

  • Minimum aggregate in PCB: generally 50% (lower for reserved categories, as per state/national norms)

  • Age: Must be at least 17 years by 31 December of the admission year

  • Must satisfy domicile / caste / reservation / certificate norms as required by state / KNRUHS

All standard documents (class 10, 12, NEET admit & rank, identity, category / domicile certificates, etc.) are required at admission time.

Cutoffs & Admission Trends

Because GMC Maheshwaram is newly operational, long-term trends are not available. However, some 2025 cutoff data is published:

  • NEET UG 2025, Round 1 (AIQ – General): The closing All India rank for MBBS at GMC Maheshwaram is ~ 18,701

  • NEET UG 2025, Round 1 (AIQ – OBC): Closing rank ~ 21,032

  • In 2024, the cutoff for General (AIQ) was ~ 24,937

These ranks indicate that competition is already moderate for the institution. Over time, cutoffs may rise as more aspirants consider newer government colleges.

Because seat numbers are small (50), cutoff movement can be volatile depending on demand, category, and counselling rounds.

Placements & Career Prospects

As a new college, GMC Maheshwaram does not yet have established placement or alumni statistics. In the medical field, “placements” typically translate into:

  • Postgraduate (MD/MS) admissions via NEET-PG

  • Employment in government / private hospitals

  • Clinical service, research, public health roles

Graduates may also have to serve in rural or state healthcare posts, depending on state service / bond obligations.

Ranking & Reputation

  • As of now, GMC Maheshwaram is too recent to feature in national ranking systems like NIRF.

  • Its reputation is under development; its standing will depend heavily on factors such as:
     • Strength of faculty
     • Clinical exposure & hospital case load
     • Research output and publications
     • Alumni success, postgraduate placements, etc.

  • Proximity to Hyderabad and state support may help it gain favor among students in Telangana and adjoining areas.

Strengths & Challenges

Strengths

  • Government-run: lower fees, public institution backing

  • Strategic location near Hyderabad for accessibility

  • New college — opportunity to build modern infrastructure and good practices from the ground up

Challenges

  • New establishment: limited track record, no alumni data

  • Facilities, specialty departments, hospital load may take time to scale

  • Competition with older, established medical colleges in Telangana
