Undergraduate (MBBS) | MBBS course for 5.5 years (4.5 years academics + 1 year internship). Annual intake is 150 seats: 15% All India quota and 85% state quota. |
Postgraduate or other courses | As a relatively new college, PG / super-specialty programs may still be developing; primary offering currently is UG MBBS. |
Admission is based on the NEET-UG exam, followed by Tamil Nadu state counselling for most seats, plus participation in All India quota counselling.
Fee Structure (Indicative for 2025)
MBBS (UG): First-year academic / miscellaneous fees are around INR 13,610 for government / state quota students.
All India quota / non-state quotas may attract slightly higher fees (including tuition, admission, lab, library, misc charges) around INR 15,350 in some reports.
Hostel & mess charges are additional; hostel facility is available.
There may be a service / bond requirement (usual for state government medical colleges).
Cutoffs & Admission Trends (2025)
Here are approximate cutoffs / ranks from recent admissions rounds:
In All India quota for UG MBBS (General category), closing ranks in some rounds around 17,000 or more.
OBC / other reserved categories in All India quota show closing ranks in the 17,000–18,000 range for some rounds.
State quota seats for Tamil Nadu domicile students tend to have much more favourable cutoffs, often much lower ranks (thus easier for local students).
Placements, Clinical Exposure & Career Prospects
Students get clinical exposure through the attached government teaching hospital, with departments such as general medicine, surgery, emergency, paediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, diagnostics, etc.
Being in a rural / semi-rural district helps in rural health rotations and community outreach, adding useful experience in public health and primary health care.
Graduates can pursue postgraduate training, or join government or private hospitals. Over time, as PG seats open up, there will be more options for specialization.
Ranking & Reputation (2025)
As a new college (established 2021), it is still building its reputation. It is emerging as a government option in a previously underserved district.
Among aspirants, it is gaining recognition for offering affordable government MBBS education with good infrastructure and clinical training.
It may not yet have long legacy or large alumni / placement statistics compared to older medical colleges.
Hostel & Campus Facilities
Hostels available for both male and female students, with separate accommodation.
Campus includes lecture halls, labs (pre-clinical / para-clinical), demonstration rooms, library, and skill / rural health training centres.
Attached hospital handles outpatient / inpatient / emergency care, giving students exposure to a range of clinical cases and community health settings.
Hostel students get mess, recreation, study rooms and basic student amenities.
Strengths, Challenges & Tips for Applicants
Strengths:
Government medical college → affordable fee structure for local / state quota students.
Favorable cutoff for Tamil Nadu domicile students under state quota.
Good opportunity in a newer college with modern infrastructure and rural health exposure.
Hostel and academic facilities are in place even though the college is new.
Challenges:
PG / super-specialty programs may not yet be fully matured or available in all disciplines.
All India quota competition remains strong; good NEET rank needed for non-state applicants.
Hostel seats / infrastructure still expanding; new batches may face limited capacity.
Tips for aspirants:
For MBBS, aims for rank well below ~18,000 in All India general category to be safe.
If you are from Tamil Nadu, leverage state quota (85%) which has more favourable cutoffs.
Apply early for hostel accommodation, especially if you are from outside the district or outside Tamil Nadu.
Check the bond terms for UG (service / rural obligation) before admission.
Visit the campus or connect with current students to understand hostel / workflow and rural rotations.
