College Overview:

Establishment: Founded in 1997, initially as the Uttarakhand Forest Hospital Trust Medical College. The foundation ceremony was held on 19 March 1997, and the first MBBS batch began in May 2004 with 100 seats. In May 2010, the Uttarakhand government took over the trust and renamed it Government Medical College, Haldwani.

Campus & Affiliation: Located on a 90-acre campus on Rampur Road, Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Affiliated with Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU), Dehradun. Approved by the National Medical Commission (formerly MCI).

  • Counselling is mandatory for both UG and PG admissions—direct admission is not permitted.

  • Fees: State counselling fees include registration (non-refundable) and security deposit (refundable if no seat allotted)—Round 1 fee ~6,500 (INR) (Govt seat) for Uttarakhand State counselling. 

  • Eligibility: For state quota, candidates must have Uttarakhand domicile or completed both Class 10 & 12 in Uttarakhand; they do not need domicile for private college seats but aren’t eligible for reservation or government quota.
