Government Medical College, Chandrapur (also referred to as KMSK, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandrapur) was established in 2015 and is fully funded by the Government of Maharashtra. It is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college is administered under the Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DMER), Maharashtra.
The campus spans around 50 acres (approx.) and includes hospital infrastructure, academic blocks, hostels, laboratories, library, and associated clinical facilities. Over time, efforts have been made to upgrade infrastructure and strengthen clinical exposure.
Given its relatively recent foundation, GMC Chandrapur is gradually building up faculty strength, specialty departments, and postgraduate programmes.

Fee Structure (2025)
MBBS (UG)
According to available sources:
The tuition fee for the MBBS course is approximately INR 6,22,350 for the full programme (all years combined)
Some sources indicate annual or term-wise charges too (hostel, exam, library etc.) over and above tuition fees.
However, another data point lists a lower “fee” figure — INR 1,52,100 (seemingly annual) for MBBS, with hostel/other charges separately.
Because of these variations, prospective students should check the latest official notification or prospectus of GMC Chandrapur at the time of admission to confirm the exact fee schedule.
MD / MS (PG)
Tuition fee: ~ INR 1,43,300 per annum for PG courses in many departments
Additionally, hostel fee is cited ~ INR 4,000 per month in one source.
Other charges (admission, development, library, caution deposit) may also apply (e.g. admission fee ~ INR 1,500; development ~ INR 5,000; library cost ~ INR 1,000; caution deposit ~ INR 4,000)
Again, actual costs may differ depending on the specialty or year of admission.
Eligibility & Admission Process (2025)
For MBBS (UG)
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology, and English. The minimum required percentage is generally 50% in PCB for unreserved, and lower (e.g. 40–45%) for reserved categories.
Age requirement: Must be at least 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the admission year.
Entrance exam: Admission is based on NEET-UG score.
Counselling / Seat allotment: Seats are allocated through Maharashtra’s state counselling (via CETCELL / State Common Entrance Test Cell), under the CAP (Centralised Admission Process) system, based on NEET merit, preferences, and category quotas.
Document verification and admission formalities follow allotment.
For MD / MS (PG)
Eligibility: Must hold an MBBS degree recognized by NMC, have completed the mandatory internship, and satisfy any required minimum marks/percentage (as per NEET PG eligibility).
Entrance exam: Admission is via NEET PG ranking.
Counselling: PG seats are allotted through a combination of All India Quota (AIQ, 50%) via MCC, and State Quota (50%) via Maharashtra’s counselling body.
Some PG seats may have a bond obligation (discussed further below).
Cutoffs & Admission Trends (2025 & Past Years)
MBBS (UG) Cutoff Trends
For NEET-UG / All India Ranks, GMC Chandrapur cutoffs in 2025 span a wide range depending on category and quota.
General (Unreserved) category in Round 2 (Maharashtra state counselling) had closing rank in the vicinity of 32,966 for GMC Chandrapur.
Across all categories in Maharashtra’s state quota, the overall MBBS cutoffs ranged from rank ~28,722 to up to ~646,963 (various reserved categories) in Round 2.
In terms of All India rank cutoffs, for the MBBS programme, closing ranks for 2025 in various categories have been recorded between ~14,150 to ~4,06,411.
For example, the “General” cutoff all-India rank is recorded in that broad range.
These wide ranges reflect variation across categories (like General, OBC, SC, ST) and quotas (state vs all-India quota).
PG (NEET PG) Cutoff Trends
In PG (MD / MS) admissions, the cutoffs have been more competitive, especially in specialties like Dermatology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, etc.
For example, in 2024, the closing ranks for General category in specialities included:
Dermatology: ~2,736 (AIQ / state mix)
General Surgery: ~11,979
Ophthalmology: ~16,327
In many specialties, reserved categories have relatively higher (i.e., less competitive) closing ranks.
These cutoffs vary every year depending on the number of applicants, difficulty of exam, seat availability, and category dynamics.
Because PG seats are limited, and demand is high, getting into the more sought specialties often requires significantly strong NEET PG rank.
Placements, Internships & Career Prospects
As a medical college, “placements” in the sense of corporate job recruitment are less relevant; instead, the outcomes are measured in terms of:
Internship training: During the MBBS program, the one-year internship is an integral part of the curriculum, exposing students to varied clinical departments in hospital settings. GMC Chandrapur, being attached to a hospital, offers students hands-on exposure in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Postgraduate progression: Many MBBS graduates aim to secure PG seats (MD/MS/DNB) either at GMC Chandrapur or other institutions, depending on their performance in NEET PG and counselling outcomes.
Clinical practice & government service: After completing MD/MS, graduates may engage in hospital practice, academic roles (as faculty), or take up government health service postings, especially in rural or underserved areas.
Bond / Service obligations: Some PG seats in government medical colleges carry a bond service requirement (i.e., candidates must serve in government or rural health sectors for a stipulated period). In one source, GMC Chandrapur is said to have a bond of 1 year with penalty ~ INR 50 lakh (for non-fulfillment).
Stipend: PG students usually receive a monthly stipend. For GMC Chandrapur, the stipend range is mentioned as ~ INR 92,000 to INR 94,000 per month in one source.
Given its status as a government institution in Maharashtra, many graduates leverage the low-cost education and strong clinical exposure to build careers in public health, government hospitals, medical colleges, and private practice.
Ranking, Reputation & Strengths
In listings and aggregator sites, GMC Chandrapur ranks among the newer government medical colleges in Maharashtra. Its reputation is still in development compared to older established institutions.
Because it is relatively young (since 2015), it does not yet feature among India’s top-tier medical colleges in ranking tables.
Strengths of GMC Chandrapur include:
Government backing — relatively lower cost compared to private colleges.
Growing infrastructure and clinical exposure.
Opportunities for local / regional students in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
Affiliation with MUHS ensures standard regulatory oversight.
Gradual expansion of PG programmes helps build academic strength.
As it matures and faculty, research, and hospital infrastructure expand, its ranking and reputation within the state and region are expected to improve.
Challenges & Considerations for Aspirants
Because the college is relatively new, certain advanced specialties and super-specialities may not yet be available in full capacity across all departments.
Faculty and infrastructure for some departments may still be under development.
The fee structure (especially for PG) and bond obligations must be closely studied before admission.
Competition in PG admissions is intense; securing preferred specialty requires strong performance in NEET PG.
Variations in cutoff ranks year to year mean that aspirants should aim for an as high score/rank as possible to ensure safety.
Conclusion & Tips for 2025 Applicants
If you plan to aim for GMC Chandrapur in 2025, here are some useful tips:
