CBSE Makes SAFAL-KSA 2025-26 Mandatory: A Bold Step Towards Better Learning Outcomes

In a major update for all CBSE-affiliated schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially mandated the SAFAL-KSA (Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning – Key Stage Assessment) program for the academic session 2025–26. This move aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on data-driven, outcome-based education.

CBSE Circular & Registration Details

A circular has been issued to the heads of all CBSE-affiliated schools, directing them to register for SAFAL-KSA 2025–26. The registration portal is now live, and schools can register from July 22 using student LOC (List of Candidates) login credentials.

Important: Participation in SAFAL-KSA is now mandatory for all CBSE schools starting from the 2025–26 academic session.

What Is SAFAL-KSA?

Launched in July 2021 under the National Education Policy 2020, SAFAL-KSA helps schools evaluate students’ learning levels using competency-based assessments. It applies to Classes 6 to 9 and covers subjects like Mathematics, English, and more.

Goals include:

  • Measuring conceptual understanding

  • Supporting reflective teaching methods

  • Tracking progress across foundational learning stages

Now Fully Digital: Key Requirements

This year, SAFAL-KSA will be conducted in digital mode, requiring:

  • Digital hardware & software setup in schools

  • Upload of a commitment letter to confirm readiness

  • Access to registration portal via student LOC credentials

  • Use of helpline numbers for technical assistance

Alternative for Schools Without Digital Setup

Schools without necessary digital facilities will be offered a one-time exception to conduct the assessment via OMR-based mode. Official guidelines for this will be released soon.

Why SAFAL-KSA Is Important

  • Encourages real-world learning and skills

  • Provides schools with actionable data on student strengths & gaps

  • Aligns student learning outcomes with NEP 2020

  • Covers urban and rural schools with equitable standards
