Q.

A car starts from rest and accelerates at 5m/s2. At t=4s, a ball is dropped out of a window by a person sitting in the car. What is the velocity and acceleration of the ball at t=6s (Take g=10m/s2)                 [2021]

1 202m/s, 10m/s2
2 20m/s, 5m/s2
3 20m/s, 0
4 202m/s, 0

Ans.

(1)

Given : ux=0, ax=5m/s2

At t=4s ball is dropped ay=g=10m/s2

Let vx is the velocity of ball at the time t=4s.

vx=ux+axt=0+5×4=20m/s

vy is the velocity of ball after leaving at t=6s

vy=uy+ayt'=0+g×2=20m/s

Resultant velocity of ball at t=6s

v=vx2+vy2=202+202

v=202m/s

Acceleration of the ball will be due to gravity i.e., a=10m/s2
