NCERT Gravitation – Class 9 Science
The chapter “Gravitation” in NCERT Class 9 Science explains the universal force of attraction that acts between all objects in the universe. Based on Newton’s Universal Law of Gravitation, it states that every object attracts every other object with a force directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Students also learn how this law helps in understanding natural phenomena such as the motion of planets, formation of tides, and falling of objects on Earth. The chapter further introduces the concepts of free fall, acceleration due to gravity (g), mass and weight, and the differences between them.
It also explains how objects behave under gravity, covering topics like weight on the Moon and the role of buoyancy and Archimedes’ principle. This chapter builds a strong foundation in Physics by linking everyday observations with scientific laws.
