AFMC Pune Admissions 2025: Courses, Fees, Cutoff, Placement & Ranking

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, established in 1948, is one of India’s premier medical institutions, functioning under the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), Ministry of Defence. It was created by merging various military medical training facilities post-World War II to address the shortage of doctors in the armed forces and has since evolved into a center of excellence in medical education, research, and training. Affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), the college is known for producing top-tier medical professionals who serve both in military and civilian healthcare sectors.

AFMC offers undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate (MD/MS), nursing, and paramedical courses. For MBBS admission, candidates must be Indian citizens, unmarried, medically fit, and between 17–24 years of age, having passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (60% aggregate, 50% in each subject). Admission is based on NEET-UG scores followed by a ToELR (Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning), Psychological Assessment Test, personal interview, and medical examination. The annual intake is 150 students (115 boys, 30 girls, 5 SC/ST), and all MBBS cadets must sign a bond to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services for seven years. Postgraduate admissions are through NEET-PG, with certain seats reserved for in-service personnel, while nursing and paramedical programs have their own entrance procedures managed by DGAFMS. AFMC remains one of the most disciplined, competitive, and prestigious medical colleges in India.
