Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (NIT Bhopal or MANIT) was founded in September 1960 as Maulana Azad College of Technology (REC Bhopal). It was upgraded to a National Institute of Technology in 2002 and declared an Institute of National Importance in 2007. Fully funded by the Ministry of Education and accredited by AICTE, NIT Bhopal honors India’s first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
